Few words inspire less joy than “budget,” but as inflation rates rise and wages remain stagnant, many of us are looking for ways to save.
There is no single wallet solution for saving. Rather, the key to financial stability and fat stacks of paper lies in understanding your spending habits, non-negotiables, and long-term goals, all qualifiers that can be found in zodiac archetypes.
Jason Higgs from Coupon Mecca Bountii is up and running, sharing his savings tips through tokens. Because Venus rules wealth and value and shows our relationship with money, be sure and read about your Sun, Venus, and rising signs.

The envelope trick
The inhabitants of the zodiac start fire; Aries, Leo and Sagittarius tend to live on the edge and spend like their pubic hair is on fire and it’s their last day on earth. When money doesn’t feel real, it’s easier to burn; this is why Higgs recommends a strategy that involves physical currency.
Enter the envelope trick:
“First, put away the spending money you want for the week in cash. Then, put the money in separate envelopes for whatever you want to spend money on: groceries, bills, shopping, entertainment money, etc. Once the money runs out, stop spending money. Any remaining money goes into your savings.”
Buying second hand
Earth signs; Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are attracted to the material and pleasant. Sensitive to quality and touch, none of them want to lower their standards in the interest of saving.
To honor the bougie on a budget, Higgs suggests earth signs consider buying second-hand to save. He points out, “Second hand doesn’t mean sacrificing quality; many vintage items, such as clothing or furniture, are often better made and made from superior materials than modern fast fashion products.”
Taurus likes anything that makes them look rich, regardless of price, and the coveted one-on-one collection suits Capricorn’s superiority complex. Hunting for good things will be especially enjoyable for Virgos who like to find hidden treasures in unexpected places, whether they are people or designer outerwear.
Date of money
Air signs of the zodiac; Gemini, Libra and Aquarius tend to experience financial fluctuations that mimic their airy nature, money flowing in and blowing out again. To maintain stability and avoid devastation, Higgs recommends that air signs set a monthly “money date” to review their finances.
Since air signs are prone to boredom, avoidance and procrastination, Higgs suggests this money date involves a decadent meal, a soundtrack and some real math. “Reflect on your monthly expenses. Identify areas for improvement and celebrate your successes. Treat it as a day (or evening) of self-care rather than a chore. That way, while life may still have its ups and downs, your finances can remain stable.”
The shopping cart trick
Water signs; Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are driven by their emotional nature and they often buy and spend from a place of feeling rather than need.
To help these sentient and happy creatures, Higgs nominates the “Shopping Cart Trick”.
“When you shop online. Instead of making a purchase right away, water tables need to add items to their online shopping cart and then leave for a set period, such as twenty four hours. This cooling off period gives them time to reconsider their purchases with a clearer mind. Often, they may find that they no longer feel the same emotional urge to purchase the items and may remove them from the cart, saving money in the process.”
