Exclusive | ‘Jersey Shore’ star Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola opens up about her IVF journey: ‘I’ll be devastated if it doesn’t work’

It’s the sweetest itch.

“Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” star Samantha “Sammi Sweetheart” Giancola wants a baby — and she described her deeply personal IVF journey to The Post in an exclusive interview.

The 37-year-old got engaged in March and has spent the past year undergoing in-vitro fertilization treatments, which will be the focus of Part 2 of Season 7 of the MTV series, premiering in September. 19.

“I’m a really private person, so this is something new for me. I guess I feel weird, showing this aspect of my life to the world. But it’s true and that’s what I’m going through,” she said.

The Hazlet, NJ native said she didn’t allow cameras to film her doctor appointments, but viewers will see her giving herself hormone injections — and telling friends she’s trying to get pregnant.

“I’m a really private person, so this is something new for me. I guess I feel weird, showing this aspect of my life to the world. But it’s true and that’s what I’m going through,” Giancola told The Post. Aristide Economopoulos

“I wanted to keep it a secret because at first I said, ‘Listen, I don’t know if the result is what I want it to be. . . I’ll be devastated if it doesn’t work,” she said.

“You’ll see how it all works out, but I kept it private for a really long time.”

She said her ex-boyfriend Ronnie Ortiz-Magro “wasn’t around” when she was going through the treatments.

“But it is not strange because he is an associate and we are not related to each other. He’s just someone I work with,” she said.

“That part of my life is completely over and has been for a very long time now. . . And what I do in my life does not belong to him.”

Giancola froze her eggs when she was 35 and had just started dating her now-fiancé, Justin May, who was a bartender at the cast’s former haunt, the now-shuttered club Karma in Seaside Heights, NJ.

“I said, ‘You know what? I’m getting old. I don’t know what’s going on in my life. . . I want to have children one day”, she recalls.

Before starting their fertility journey, the couple, who live on the Jersey Shore, were trying to conceive naturally.

“I’ve been with my fiance for three years now, so it’s been a long time,” she said.

She credits her future son-in-law as her “backbone”.

“He’s just very positive and exciting,” she said. “If I’m feeling down or if I’m going through it, he’s there to pick me up and just bring me back to a good place where I’m focused and I’m like, ‘Okay, the end goal. is positive. We’ll just think positively.’

The reality star hopes her TV journey can help others.

“Maybe someone can look at me and maybe understand or maybe they went through it or maybe they can just relate to me in some way,” she said.

The brunette beauty, who was part of the original “Jersey Shore” cast, didn’t return to the spinoff show, which debuted in 2018, until its sixth season, which aired in 2023.

This December, “Jersey Shore” will celebrate its 15th anniversary.

“I can’t believe it’s been 15 years. But what a fantastic time with these people in my life,” she said. “I adore them.”
