Don’t go chasing waterfalls – let them come to you, at a discount.
One lucky solo traveler inspired envy among wallet-weary travelers after scoring a hotel with a full view of Niagara Falls for less than $300 a night, as detailed in a video posted to social media with more than 550,000 views.
“It was magical and everything I hoped for – I burst into tears!” Lyndsay Johnson told Jam Press about the incredible deal.
The Nottingham, UK native, who goes by @wander_woman11 on TikTok, reportedly treated herself to a trip to the US and Canada – including a visit to the legendary scenic spot that straddles the border between the two countries.
And after paying just $287 for her room at the fall hostel, Johnson didn’t expect to get many views.
That was until the wanderer opened the curtains and saw the iconic Horseshoe Falls – right outside her window.
“When I arrived at the hotel it was evening and it was dark outside and the curtains in my room were closed,” gushed the stunned Briton.
“I stood in front of them and wished out loud that the view was good, but nothing could have prepared me for how spectacular it was when I opened the curtains.”
Accompanying footage shows the iconic cascades glowing against the night sky like something out of the movie Avatar.
Johnson’s followers were amazed that she managed to score such a picturesque look for such a low price.
“Now that’s a room with a view,” exclaimed one enraptured commenter.
Another wrote, “might be the best view I’ve ever seen from a hotel.”
“I wasn’t going to sleep – you’d just see me in the window,” said a third, to which Johnson replied, “Honestly, I just sat there for a long time!”
Briton did not reveal the name of the accommodations in question, but the Canadian side of the natural attraction is known for its array of high-rise hotels with great views of the thundering spectacle, including the Fallsview Marriott, Marriott at The Falls and Radisson Fallsview . .
A quick search by The Post showed rates at the three properties in October ranging from $86 to $120 on a weekday — but not necessarily for rooms with the same view.
After her stay in Niagara Falls, Johnson reportedly visited Toronto to finish her North American tour.
The Brit often documents her solo vacations online in the hope that others will follow suit.
“When people hear I’m on vacation or traveling by myself, they usually tell me I’m brave and then after a pause, they tell me they want to do it,” Johnson said. “I want to use my platform to empower others and help them take that journey.”
Johnson’s experience isn’t the norm—there’s been an unfortunate trend of travelers spending big on rooms with what they think is a picture-postcard view, only to find out later that it’s anything but.
Last month, for example, a traveler in Germany was devastated after the “picturesque sea view” in her hotel turned out to be a nautical-themed poster stuck to the wall in her gloomy basement room.
